What is meant by:
1- Polymerization: is a process in which a large number of small molecules join to from a big molecule.
2-Meson:
is a small subatomic particle with a positive or a negative charge.
3-Thermal pollution:
Water cooling methods are used in cooling reactors causes a rise in the temperature of the water in the sea or river leading to the separation of dissolved oxygen in the water causing the destruction of marine organisms in that region.
4-Hess's law:
The heat of a reaction depends only on the heat content of reactants and products and not on the steps in the reactions
5-Nuclear binding energy:
is the energy required to bind the constituents of the nucleus together.
6-Molecular formula:
is a simple symbolic formula which shows the type and number of atoms in a molecule and shows the number of moles of each element in different compounds.
7-Electron volt: is the work done in transferring one electron from one point to another when the potential difference between them equals 1 volt.
8-isotope:
are different forms of the atom of an element having the same atomic number but different mass numbers
Calculations:
1)
Calculate the heat change for the following reaction: CH4+2O2→CO2+2H2O, given that the heat of formation of methane=-90 Kj and water=-285.85Kj and
CO2=-393.7Kj, what is the type of the reaction? Draw the energy graph.
